Most iPhone photo libraries are a bit of a mess.

Keep Albums Broad
You don’t need a lot of albums. Most people create too many and stop using them.

- People
- Travel
If an album needs constant decision-making, it won’t last.
Use Search Instead of Scrolling
Search in the Photos app is way better than it used to be.
You can search by location, object, person, or date.]
Once your library isn’t completely chaotic, this is usually the fastest way to find things.
Scrolling should be the last option.

- Google Photos is good for backups and search
- Amazon Photos works well if you already have Prime
Apple Photos is usually enough.
What Actually Keeps It Manageable
There’s no perfect system.
The only things that really matter:
- Delete things regularly
- Favourite good shots immediately
- Don’t over-organise
- Use some sort of cloud storage
